The man behind the scenes:

I am a pilot by profession but a geek at heart. I spent over 10 years in the tech sector until I decided to try the ups and downs of the aviation industry. Currently I am a captain at ExpressJet Airlines. We fly the 50 seat Embraer jet. Many of my friends ask me tech questions. I decided to put the most interesting stuff I find online. I also wanted to extend this knowledge or lack of to the aviation community.

I love to travel, play music, and of course spend too much time on the computer.

FlightCrewLife.com was created by Pilots for Pilots.

We are combining two of our previous sites, FitnessForPilots.com and FlightCrewGadgets.com to create a complete portal for flight crew members. We are in the process of transferring all of the content from these sites. So look for lots of changes in the coming weeks.

Where did you come up with the idea for this site?
Well it is a combination of a couple of sites which related to fitness and gadgets. Two of my favorite things in life. Fitness should be #1 but it isn’t. Prior to getting into aviation I spent 10+ years in the tech sector. I am the pilot who lugs around the laptop, mp3 player, smartphone, etc etc. Why not share this information with others. As for the fitness side 3 years ago I injured my back and was out of work for a short time. My PT politely said I was out of shape and needed to get my act together. So I did. I lost a bunch of weight and got back into shape. Since then I have slacked off a bit. This part of my life is a constant struggle. However, I am able to maintain a pretty good balance.

I have always wanted to write but never had the outlet to do it can I contribute?
If you have some articles which fit into our category buckets please let us know. You will get writing credit for everything that you do. Our easy to use administration site allows you to cut-n-paste from your favorite word processing program to generate online content.

Will you offer any message forums?
Nope, there are plenty of places on the internet where you can remain anonymous and spew drivel. Not here sorry.

Will you ever have a politics sections?
Nope, again there are plenty of places on the internet to discuss politics. For simplicity sake we will leave politics and religion out of our articles. Can someone give me an amen?

Will there ever be a fee to use this site?
This is very unlikely. Everyone expects everything on the internet to be free. We will try to make this site work with advertisement support. If we feel we have some exceptionally unique content in the future we may make a members only section. The fee would be very reasonable. Think $5.00 a year. We are a long ways away from that. For now we are focused on FREE content
